Help Keep Yorkshire Cricket in Scarborough – Your County Needs You!  

Yorkshire County Cricket Club are urging members, cricket players, coaches and fans of all ages to volunteer some of their time to the Natwest CricketForce weekend at Scarborough Cricket Club on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th March.  

NatWest CricketForce will team up with Scarborough Cricket Club and Yorkshire County Cricket Club to help refurbish Scarborough’s North Marine Road ground. The showcase event will run from the 26th-28th March at the only remaining out-ground used by the White Rose and needs volunteers to help improve the facilities.  

The Scarborough Cricket Festival is one of the oldest and most famous cricket festivals in the world and attracts 28000 visitors to the area each year. As Yorkshire County Cricket Club enters the fourth year of a five-year staging agreement, it is of high importance to YCCC to keep Yorkshire cricket at the seaside club and NatWest CricketForce is the ideal opportunity to make this happen.  

NatWest CricketForce is a volunteer based initiative in which England and Wales Cricket Board aim to rejuvenate cricketing facilities all over the country. It encourages supporters, members, players, and the local community to get involved and help with renovation.  

Yorkshire County Cricket Club are fully committed to helping out and Chief Executive Stewart Regan said: “We are urging everyone to get behind the NatWest CricketForce programme and show their support for Scarborough Cricket Club so we can all ensure that first-class cricket can remain at Scarborough. Scarborough has a special place on the Yorkshire fixture list and everyone needs to realise the value of these games to the local community and the East Coast area.”  

Whitby-born, Scarborough and Yorkshire batsman Adam Lyth added: “Obviously being a local lad I want Yorkshire to keep cricket at Scarborough and play where my family and friends can easily come and watch. It is always good to play in front of a big crowd on my home ground on a wicket that usually produces results.”
